I’d planned on sharing my writing reflections in June this year. Well, life happened, the writing reflections did not. Then I read Caitlin Gemmell’s post about Lughnasadh/Lammas, which reminded me of this time of seasonal observation and gathering in.
Since learning a bit more about where my distant family has come from, mostly England, Ireland, Germany, and France,1 diving into the Celtic wheel of the year has been life-giving–my love of seasons and folklore rolled into one.
This year on August 1st we will also celebrate our first year of living in our new home. My daughter and I are cooking up small ways to celebrate. There will be cake, at the very least.
And now onto my writing harvest.
I wanted to write a rough draft of the sequel to A Land of Light and Shadow this spring/summer, but that didn’t happen. I reworked the outline, wrote a chapter and a half, went back to the outline, let my imagination wonder…and put it to the side while I worked on the much more urgent NA fairy tale romance. Then I pulled a two-card tarot cross in July which provided lots of “aha!” moments for the sequel.
