Hi, friends. I’m wrapped up in a flurry of writing energy I haven’t experienced in well over a year. Because of this, I wanted to share my publishing plans for 2024 with you.
Double Alchemy
I’m publishing Beauty & Armand’s story February 9th! 13 whole weeks away!
Technically, it could be ready much sooner, but I’m choosing to delay for the sake of sustainability. Between Thanksgiving and the end of January, we have 5 out of 6 family birthdays, 3 holidays, and 2 school breaks. A bit of hibernation is a must. I also want to have a full draft of Twisted Halls, the next book in the series, under my belt before Double Alchemy is available because my history with series is…*looks at A Land of Light and Shadow and the sequel 3 years+ in the works*.
So yes! There will be another book! And I hope to publish that one next year, too, though I won’t say when until we get closer. Because, you know, life happens.
The Secret Heart of Maeve MacGowan
This is my second ‘must publish’ for 2024. I’d envisioned setting this YA fantasy free in September because it takes place in early fall. But I may not wait that long. The themes of high control spaces, mental health & neurodivergence, and the mystery of the unknown feel super urgent to me. So I’ll know when Maeve’s story needs to make its debut as the months roll by, and you’ll be the first to know here in The Purple Vale.
In case you missed it, here’s my post about Maeve’s story.
Romance news
While considering how to keep my MG/YA stories separate from the more adult stories, I decided to start a romance imprint!
Name to be revealed soon. Here’s a hint:
I have a few other projects up my sleeve that are more adult-y than Double Alchemy that I’ll share more on later and are the main reason for creating this separation from my MG/YA books.
Again, one of my focuses here is sustainability. I know once winter and the holidays set in things like motivation and energy will dip and I’ll need to conserve resources for my family and sanity and creativity, and marketing and social media will go on the back burner. But I’ll keep you in the loop here.
Thank you so much for being here! I’m so excited to share these goals with you, and even more excited to share these characters.
And in case you’re wondering, I haven’t forgotten A Land of Light and Shadow’s sequel. You’ll learn more about it before the year is out.
Friends, I hope you enjoyed this newsletter. For those of you that have already shared this newsletter and are supporting me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Can I ask a favor? I am trying to reach 500 subscribers by the end of the year. Right now, I’m at about 350.
If you haven’t already, it would mean so much to me if you could invite a friend or two to join us in the Purple Vale. Please click the link below so that more people who love fairy tales, folklore, reading, and neurospicy ramblings can enjoy this space. I am working on something special for every single subscriber when I reach my goal, so stay tuned.
